Sign is 10” X 12” and comes with stake, ready to put into ground.
On average, 1% per year of migratory song birds are disappearing.
Suburban and urban landscape and man-made changes are increasing.
Surprised? It's not your fault you didn't know. We were brought up to
think of yards as outdoor rooms or gardens, never as habitats. No one
told us we were forcing out necessary native plants.
YOU ARE THE SOLUTION
Cape Fear Audubon Society wants to encourage you help stem the declining number of birds. If you make some a small change to your habitat (yard) to help birds survive, we will reward you with a sign to commemorate your effort and to ecourange others to do the same. One small step by you, can become one big step for birds!
If invasives are present, remove at least 10% and plant 5 or more natives And Get a sign!
Invasives are those in this USDA booklet plus pampas grass, Bradford Pear and Crepe Myrtle.
OR if no invasives are present, remove some (or all) non natives and plant 5 or more natives And Get a sign!
OR if no invasives or non natives are present, remove some lawn and plant 5 or more natives And Get a sign!
You may think your yard is already so bird friendly you should already be eligible for a sign.
We’d still like encourage you to plant more natives if you have room.
