"To conserve and restore natural ecosystems within our region, focusing on birds and other wildlife for the benefit of humanity and North Carolina’s biological diversity."
Welcome to the Cape Fear Audubon Society, the local chapter of the National Audubon Society, serving Brunswick, Pender, New Hanover, and Onslow counties. We are proud to be serving such an exciting area of the North Carolina coast, rich in biodiversity and population.

The Cape Fear region’s diverse habitat includes salt marsh, wetlands, barrier islands, pine forest, woodlands and many nature sanctuaries, and parks. It also has 14 Audubon-designated Important Bird Areas.

We are a rapidly growing chapter dedicated to preserving this wealth of habitat through education and helping people connect to nature. We are not only birders, but also naturalists, citizen scientists, and concerned citizens all with the common goal of preserving this gem of biodiversity called the Cape Fear watershed—our home and our children’s home.

Our meetings are held on the first Monday of each month except for summer months and some holiday months. Check Calendars tab for up-to-date meeting schedule. We also host field trips, bird walks, and other educational activities.

We hope you’ll enjoy our site and join us for an activity or as a member.
